Mrs. King's Music Room Tour 2014

Welcome to my classroom!  I love decorating and getting everything just right before students arrive.  Our school building is 5 years old and I am so fortunate to have this bright, beautiful space to teach in.  Come on in!  Let me show you around!
Tour the music room and see great ideas for decorating, organizing, classroom set up, bulletin boards and more. This room features a rainbow and black and white polka dot theme. Students in K-6 use the room so the set up works for multiple age levels.
This is the view from the back corner, not too far from the door.  I have my chairs arranged in essentially three rows with a center aisle.  I am a big fan of Fred Jones and his thoughts on classroom arrangement.  I can be near any student within 3 seconds with this set-up.

A view from my desk.  I found the composer posters in the teacher's lounge in the freebie pile.  I was SO excited.  They are about $50 a set.  The kids love looking at them and a only a few have called them "presidents".  LOL.

I like to leave a display up that gives the names of performing ensembles.  This one goes with my rock star theme for the year.  Teachers can get it here.

This shelf is by my desk and is a great way for me to show off my adorable kids.  I chose some funky frames in black and white.  I use rainbow patterns and bold black and white patterns in my room.  I also added a small lamp this year.  I can turn it on while students are watching videos and work at my desk.  I don't get to use it often, but it is handy when I do.  The binders that you see use my teacher binder set.

This is my desk and the area behind.  I covered the drawers with colored duct tape.  The black and white patterns on the sides of the cabinets are contact paper (on the left) and wrapping paper (on the right).

I love a good pun!  I used the individual sheets from the Meet the Composer Bulletin Board set for the composer sheets.  I printed out a quick sign to put above them that reads "Check out these aDOORable Composers."  I plan to change the composers every 4 to 5 weeks.

This is the display that is near my supplies table.  The sign says "Musicians are Writers" and the pencils describe ways that musicians use writing.  You can get it here.

The window wall stores my instruments.  One of the tall cabinets is full of plastic coffee cans that I use as drums and the other stores videos and some music.

This is the side of a cabinet that stores lots of my manipulatives.  These are my Tiny Awards.  They are empty in this picture because I hadn't made any copies yet.  To the left is my Song of the Month display.

I painted the flower pots a year or so ago.  I use fake flowers because I just can't keep real ones alive.  *giggle*  The rock star hat and little award go with my rock star theme this year.

Thanks for checking out my room.  I'll post my bulletin boards in a post very soon.  You can get most of the printed resources that you see at The Bulletin Board Lady.
